World Games: Cianfoni wins gold in Paralympic freediving: "It's the medal of my dreams."

Alessandro Cianfoni reached 108 meters in the Chengdu pool at the World Games in China with a flutter of wings, almost with his eyes closed. It was almost like touching the sky. A meter more than his opponent and a gold medal in Paralympic freediving without fins. "For our sport, which isn't an Olympic sport," he says, "this gold medal is worth a lot. You can't reach higher; it's the highest an athlete can achieve. It happened to me, and the satisfaction I feel is indescribable. Words fail me, and this recognition is worth all the dreams I've had, the efforts and hardships I've put into life, not just in sport. Yes, today I can say I'm truly happy."
